Kasai: 1,600 children sensitized to the inclusion of pupils with disabilities in schools

Tshikapa, March 17th, 2026 (CPA). – More than 1,600 children have been sensitized on Tuesday to the inclusion of pupils living with disabilities and to girls’ access to education, particularly in primary schools, during a session on Tuesday at Ngolo Primary School in Tshikapa, the principal town of Kasai, in the centre of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). “We are sensitizing all non-disabled children to adopt a positive attitude towards children with disabilities, to remove the various barriers to promote their inclusion in schools and the community, and to ensure access and equality in girls’ education,” has declared Moise Mikanda, Project Coordinator for the NGO Handicap International. “We are asking the various communities to send girls to school so they can benefit from the same education for their future and to treat children with disabilities with the same respect, thereby alleviating their frustration and promoting inclusion in schools for quality learning,” she has added. The NGO Handicap International has sensitized pupils at Ngolo Primary School and communities along National Road No. 1 and in the two public markets in the municipalities of Dibumba 1 and 2. ACP/
