Tuesday September 2nd, 2025 (CPA). – The non-profit association « FMT » has alerted the relevant authorities on Tuesday about an unknown epidemic that has ravaged several goats in the Kasadisadi sector in the Tshikapa-Kamonia territory in the Kasai province (centre) of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
« We are alerting the relevant authorities, and in particular the national Minister in charge of Fisheries and Livestock, to get personally involved in order to save the goats attacked by an unknown epidemic. Without urgent intervention, there is a risk that many local breeders will lose their livestock. Without details of the animal epidemic ravaging their goats, there is a risk that consumers of the contaminated meat will be caught by the zoonosis. Specialists must intervene as a matter of urgency to save human lives », has declared Mike Mbaya Tshikandama, founder of the non-profit organisation « FMT ».
According to Mr Tshikandama, this alert is necessary to prevent the recrudescence of this animal epidemic in other neighbouring areas such as Kasai-Lunyeka, Kasai-Longatshimu and the sister territory of Luiza in Kasaï Central. CPA/
