Kasaï-Oriental: Security reassured to residents of a municipality in Mbuji-Mayi

Mbuji-Mayi, February 4th, 2026 (CPA) . – Security has been reassured to residents of the municipality of Bipemba, in Mbuji-Mayi, Kasaï-Oriental province, in the center of the Democratic Republic of Congo, by the municipal authority, after a period marked by nighttime thefts, during a meeting on Wednesday with the neighborhood leaders of this administrative entity.

« We have made neighborhood leaders aware of their involvement in security matters. This is to tell them that the municipality of Bipemba is fully equipped with Congolese national police officers and that we have been divided into districts. We now have two districts. This means that the safety of the population and their property is completely assured, » said Irène Mbalayi Malaba, mayor of the municipality of Bipemba.

“And all the buildings constructed for us by our partner IOM are now so well equipped with police personnel that security within the municipality is and will remain total,” she continued.

Irène Mbalayi urged neighborhood leaders to collaborate with the police and said she had provided her constituents with an emergency telephone number. “So, our concern was to raise awareness among neighborhood leaders to work with the local police to put troublemakers out of action. They must also inform the population that there is an official number available at headquarters that has been communicated,” emphasized the burgomaster of Bipemba.
