Kinshasa: 900 dual desks made by National Service handed over to three schools

Kinshasa, October 7th, 2026 (CPA).- Nine hundred (900) dual desks manufactured by the National Service (SN) were handed over on Tuesday and Wednesday to three (3) schools in the city of Kinshasa, capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), according to an administrative source. “I am filled with great joy because we have just received a donation of dual desks from the National Service, through the Nation Builders. This is the implementation of the vision of the President of the Republic, Félix Tshisekedi, who said: no school without desks,” said Cécile Pami, headmistress of Ndjili Institute, in the eastern part of the Congolese capital.

Ndjili Institute, Likasi Technical Commercial Institute and Kasa-Vubu High School were among the schools that each received three hundred (300) dual desks. She said the donation puts an end to the thorny issue of the lack of desks in the public school and paves the way for better academic performance among learners, who had until now been studying under precarious conditions.

“Our children will study under better conditions, which is a guarantee of success. Thanks to these desks, success is assured,” she said.

While welcoming the gesture, she called for the construction of classrooms specifically for the school, which is currently forced to share its premises with another school, and also requested laboratory equipment and reagents.

The headmaster of Likasi Technical Commercial Institute, for his part, called for the acquisition of modern office equipment in order to combine theory with practice.

A sigh of relief for pupils

For the pupils, the donation came as a great relief. Princesse Nsita, a fourth-year humanities pupil at Ndjili Institute, thanked Lieutenant-General Jean-Pierre Kasongo Kabwik, head of the National Service, for easing their hardship, as they previously had to sit four or five to a desk. “This day will remain unforgettable,” said Miradi Kolongo, from Kasa-Vubu High School, who praised the authorities for their efforts in favour of education.
