Appointment of a new academic secretary-general at a Catholic university in Kinshasa

Kinshasa, October 7th, 2026 (CPA).- A new academic secretary-general of Omnia Omnibus University has been appointed by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), to strengthen governance at the alma mater, according to a statement consulted by CPA on Wednesday.

“We, Fridolin Cardinal Ambongo, by the grace of God and apostolic benevolence (…), having sought the opinions of the members of the Board of Directors in accordance with the statutes, hereby appoint for a four-year term Father Marcous Bindungwa as Academic Secretary-General of Omnia Omnibus University,” the statement from the Archdiocese of Kinshasa said.Considering the need to appoint new office holders whose predecessors’ terms had expired, in order to ensure the proper functioning, stability and harmonious development of the university, the source indicated that the appointee will perform the duties entrusted to him in accordance with the statutes and regulations of the higher education institution, as well as the applicable legal provisions governing higher and university education.

The appointment is part of the Catholic university’s efforts to strengthen its academic governance, consolidate stability and promote its harmonious development.

Through this new assignment, Father Marcous Bindungwa is therefore expected to contribute to the pursuit of academic excellence within Omnia Omnibus University.

A Catholic priest of the Archdiocese of Kinshasa for more than 20 years, Father Marcous Bindungwa Ibanda is also a professor and researcher at various Catholic universities. A former Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy at Omnia Omnibus University, he now serves as its Academic Secretary-General. ACP/
