Kinshasa: campaign for affordable urological care organized

Kinshasa, March 2nd, 2026 (CPA).– A campaign for the management of urological diseases at reduced cost is scheduled from March 9th to 14th, 2026, at a specialized clinic in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), in order to facilitate access to quality healthcare, CPA learned Monday from an associative source. “This campaign aims to provide quality urological care at reduced cost and to raise public awareness about the importance of prevention and early diagnosis. A 50 percent reduction will be granted on consultation fees, laboratory and ultrasound examinations, as well as on endoscopic and laparoscopic surgical procedures, including scarless prostate surgery and other related pathologies,” declared Dr. Jean-Paul Esika, urologist within the non-profit organization Urology for All (Urotous), through its medical structure, Urotous Clinic. According to him, urological diseases can progress to severe forms if not treated in time. Early diagnosis enables curative treatment and thus recovery.

“Diseases of the urinary and genital systems are very common, particularly those related to the prostate. However, due to lack of information about the local availability of qualified specialists or because of financial difficulties, many people turn to charlatans or inappropriate treatments, sometimes with serious consequences,” he added. The specialist indicated that the campaign targets men, women, the elderly and children presenting urological conditions. It is also intended for individuals without symptoms who wish to undergo a medical check-up to assess their health status. Dr. Esika explained that the conditions concerned include diseases of the urinary system in men and women, as well as diseases of the male genital system, notably benign prostatic hyperplasia, prostatitis, urinary stones, sexual impotence and male infertility. Organized for the first time by Urotous Clinic, the campaign will be supervised by experts with more than ten years of experience and equipped with modern equipment enabling specialized care. Patient management will continue beyond the official duration of the campaign.
