Kinshasa: construction works of a new municipal building completed at 100%

Kinshasa, March 2nd, 2026 (CPA).– Construction works of the new municipal building of N’djili, in the eastern part of Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), have been completed at 100 percent, the municipal authority announced on Monday during a site visit. “The works on the new N’djili municipal building have already been completed at 100%, and the inauguration is scheduled very soon. What remains is the installation of furniture. A first batch is already available and we are awaiting the final batch, as the project provides for the building to be fully furnished,” declared Papy Mbumba, Mayor of N’djili. “After the installation of the furniture, we will welcome the supreme authority for the inauguration of this building,” he added. The mayor also detailed the components of the new administrative complex. “The site includes the municipal administration, a building dedicated to youth called the ‘Youth House’, which will host the Communal Youth Council, as well as other infrastructures built to accommodate already existing services,” he explained. “We also have a building that will house the N’djili police station, a central technical building for monitoring water and electricity-related issues, as well as landscaped areas designed to provide a pleasant living environment,” he continued. Furthermore, Mayor Mbumba called for civic responsibility in preserving the infrastructure.

“Let us commit ourselves to everything being done here for our benefit, protect the infrastructure and respond to the authorities’ call regarding sanitation, particularly the ‘salongo’. Let us all get involved, hand in hand, to meet the challenge of sanitation and environmental protection,” he stressed. The former N’djili municipal building dates back to 1957, it was recalled.
