Kinshasa, November 3rd, 2026 (CPA).- The Kinshasa-Gombe Labour Court in the Democratic Republic of the Congo on Tuesday adjourned the case opposing a former employee to the company Oversize to allow the defense to examine the updated report from the Labor Inspectorate concerning the calculation of her final employment settlement, judicial sources said.
“The Court adjourned the Oversize case to allow for a detailed examination of the final settlement,” the lawyer for the claimant said after the hearing.
The court noted that the updated report from the Labor Inspectorate, which had been filed with the registry after several months of calculations, had not yet been reviewed by the defendant.
The adjournment is therefore intended to allow both parties to examine the document and submit their observations, in accordance with the adversarial principle.
The date of November 10th, initially considered for the next hearing, was postponed by two weeks at the request of the claimant, whose counsel was already committed to another hearing.
The next hearing is expected to focus on the parties’ observations on the report, before the court decides on the next steps in the proceedings.
The case originated when a former employee of Oversize approached the Labor Inspectorate after failing to receive her final employment settlement following her resignation.
The employer reportedly cited, among other things, issues relating to her conduct and allegations of theft.
After conciliation efforts failed and an initial calculation of the settlement was made, the case was brought before the Labor Court, which ordered a fresh assessment.
The company subsequently lodged an appeal, but the Court of Appeal declared it inadmissible following objections raised by the claimant. ACP/
