Kinshasa, March 29th, 2026 (CPA).- Community ambassadors have been trained during a workshop on Saturday in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), on how to provide psychological support to students living with disabilities. “The NGO Afyakili has organised an intensive, rigorous and entirely free training course designed to prepare support workers capable of supporting, guiding and understanding students living with a disability throughout their educational journey,” has declared Dr Dumazedier Kabasele, coordinator of the NGO Afyakili and trainer. “This first day of training has been particularly rich in constructive exchanges. It was also characterised by the participants’ strong motivation, their awareness of the importance of inclusion, and the commitment and discipline shown by everyone,” he has added. This training, he has said, was aimed to equip the beneficiaries with essential skills to support pupils effectively, and to open up opportunities through partners in the education environment. “At Afyakili, we firmly believe that by building the capacity of our community, we are moving towards a more inclusive, humane and united Congo. We remind you that for those wishing to access further support, Afyakili provides non-medical services to address the psychological, social and educational needs of the population,” Dr Kabasele has added. With this in mind, he has emphasised that this first day of training is just the beginning of a programme that will transform lives – those of the support workers and, above all, those of the children who will benefit from their support. In DRC, the NGO Afyakili’s mission is to help everyone regain control of their lives. It raises awareness, provides support, listens and restores hope to all those facing psychological difficulties.
