Kinshasa, August 3rd, 2025 (CPA). – The activities of the 47th edition of the Congo Kinshasa International Fair (FICKIN) have been launched on Saturday under the banner of hope and optimism by the Minister in charge of Foreign Trade in Kinshasa, capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). ‘So, this 47th edition, I want it to be an edition of hope and optimism. Last year, I have told you that in the next 36 months, the FICKIN would rise from the ashes so that the tradition of July 2nd that the people of Kinshasa know could be revived,’ has declared Julien Paluku Kahongya, Minister in charge of Foreign Trade. He has said he is pleased to announce that on June 13th, 2025, he was in Shaoshan, in the capital of Hunan Province, which is the birthplace of Mao Tse Tung, one of the Chinese leaders who has transformed China, where he has met with a company specialising in the infrastructure modernisation and today, August 2nd, this company is represented here by a strong delegation that has come to make a study on the Fickin. And that, in order to modernise it, to get rid of the dust and to make this Kinshasa fair not only a place of attraction through its park but also a place where we will build other infrastructure so that from now on people will come and organise exhibitions, including the world exhibitions here in Kinshasa, like those that take place in Japan.
The minister has indicated that this Chinese delegation will work for seven days with the General Director of the Fickin, the President of the Board of Directors and the entire technical team to ensure that when the delegation returns, it will come back later with visible elements that will enable, in two or three years’ time, the organisation of a fair with an amusement park, with an infrastructure that can host large events and five-star hotels to accommodate foreign exhibitors. He has noted that he wants everyone’s hearts to be nourished by this hope, that we can support the representatives assigned to the Fickin, and that the economic operators understand that from now on there will be a commercial space at the Fickin outside the festive space and it is time that people start subscribing to have commercial spaces.
