Kinshasa, July 14th, 2025, (CPA).- An appeal was made to parents to raise their children to be model citizens for a better future on Monday during a social panel organized by an association in Mont-Ngafula, a municipality in the west of Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). ‘Parents have a responsibility to build a model family. They must raise their children to be citizens of the future,’ said Olga Ntumba, coordinator of the association ‘Youth for All.’ « The younger generation is the hope of the nation and the driving force behind its development, which will lead to its emergence. Their strength, energy, ideas, determination and optimism are the talents needed to bring prosperity and joy to the population, » she added. The activist also called on families to teach young people moral values and to keep an eye on their friends. ‘Youth violence is a complex problem in our society. It requires in-depth study so that solutions can be found to get young people out of this bad behavior. Hence, the family has an obligation to teach children fundamental values, to monitor them and to watch over their acquaintances,’ said Ms Ntumba. According to him, the role of parents in the education of children is fundamental and multifaceted. It encompasses not only the transmission of knowledge and values, but also the emotional, social and physical development of the child. Parents are their children’s first educators, and their influence is decisive for their well-being and future success.
