Kinshasa: Partnership Proposed for the Psychosocial Care of Veteran Soldiers

Kinshasa, February 18th, 2026 (CPA) – A proposal for a strategic partnership aimed at providing psychosocial and medical care to veteran soldiers was made Wednesday in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, during a visit to the “Afyakili” medical center by the Ministry of National Defense and Veterans Affairs. “We had the honor of receiving in our offices a representative of the Ministry of National Defense and Veterans Affairs, specifically the Minister’s principal advisor, as part of a proposal for a strategic partnership. This collaboration aims to provide psychosocial and medical care for veteran soldiers, as well as for people displaced by conflict,” said Dr. Serge Kabasele, National Coordinator of the center. According to the physician, this partnership proposal represents an important step toward dignified, humane, and tailored support for those who bear the visible and invisible scars of war. “AFYAKILI continues to move forward for a stronger, more aware, and more resilient DRC,” he stated. Inaugurated last Saturday in the Kasa-Vubu municipality, Afyakili is a medical center specialized in mental health care.
