Kinshasa: Women called upon to manufacture various products for their self-empowerment

Kinshasa, March 9th, 2026 (CPA).-Women were called upon on Monday to manufacture several products, including jam and juice, for their empowerment, during an interview with CPA on the side-lines of International Women’s Day celebrations in Kinshasa, capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

‘Poverty is not feminine, because women depend on their husbands or third parties, so we want to train mothers to become self-sufficient by making products such as jam, juice and bacterols,’ has declared Ms Alphonsine Nguba, provincial councillor in charge of youth and gender for the Red Cross in the city of Kinshasa.

Ms Nguba has pointed out that women today are different from women in the past, adding that since the Beijing Declaration, things have changed, as the government is keen to ensure that women occupy a prominent place within institutions.

She took the opportunity to call on the women of the Red Cross to continue to stand together, to work hand in hand in a spirit of listening, before inviting other women who are not part of this structure to join them to be trained as first aid volunteers.
