Kwilu: Acts of Vandalism Denounced by a School in Gungu

Gungu, February 26th, 2026 (CPA). – Acts of vandalism were denounced on Thursday by the management of Nkulambetshi Primary School, a non-conventional school located in the town of Gungu, in Kwilu (south-western Democratic Republic of the Congo), which has 300 pupils enrolled for the current school year, during an interview. “We denounce and deplore the poor conditions under which our pupils study in our school located in the heart of Gungu town. We are victims of repeated acts of vandalism, often committed at night by unidentified individuals who break classroom doors to gain entry, even defiling the classrooms,” said Paul Ndevu, headmaster of the school.

He added that this situation comes at a time when the thatched buildings are in an advanced state of deterioration and are insufficient to accommodate the pupils. “We take this opportunity to call on decision-makers and other people of goodwill to assist us so that we can properly fulfill our mission of ensuring quality education for the Congolese youth, the future of the country,” he concluded.
