Haut-Katanga: Prospects for Economic Growth and French Business Investments Discussed at the Governor’s Office

Lubumbashi, February 26th, 2026 (CPA). – Prospects for economic growth and investments by French companies in the province of Haut-Katanga, in the south-eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, were at the center of discussions between the acting governor and the French ambassador accredited to Kinshasa.

“It is very important for me to come regularly to Lubumbashi because of the province’s economic activity and, above all, its growth and investment prospects. It was important for me to meet the acting governor so that he could present his own development vision, particularly in view of an upcoming visit by a delegation of French companies,” declared Rémi Maréchaux, Ambassador of France. He indicated that the acting governor expressed his wish to see well-designed projects materialize, paving the way for stronger engagement of French companies in the province’s economic development. The two officials also discussed the need to strengthen economic cooperation between Haut-Katanga and France, with emphasis placed on improving the business climate. Rémi Maréchaux arrived from Kolwezi, in Lualaba, where he held direct talks with provincial authorities.
