Bandundu, January 26th, 2026 (CPA). – A rise in the price of goat meat has been observed on Monday in the markets of Bandundu, the chief town of Kwilu province (in the south-west of the Democratic Republic of Congo), rising from 20,000 to FC 35,000, an increase of 75% per kilogram, CPA has noticed during a visit. ‘A kilogram of goat meat has risen from FC 20,000 to FC 35,000, an increase of 75%,’ has declared Gode Maya, manager of a sales point commonly known as ‘Nganda ntaba’. ‘This price increase is due to the scarcity of goats, following multiple looting incidents caused by Mobondo militiamen in the territory of Kwamouth (Mai-Ndombe) and part of Bagata (Kwilu), where we find a large number of goat farmers,’ he has explained. He has requested, on this occasion, the support of the urban authorities in order to increase the production of goats in this part of the country, before inviting sellers to cultivate a sense of humanism in the management of prices for the benefit of the community.
