Kinshasa, May 14th, 2026 (CPA). – Celeste from Mbandaka, in Equateur province in the west of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), and Lupopo from Lubumbashi, in Haut-Katanga in the south-east of the country, have been announced on Friday at the Tata Raphael Stadium in Kinshasa for the fourth day of the play-offs of the National Football League (Linafoot) championship, according to the competition’s schedule. According to this document, consulted on Thursday by CPA, this sole match scheduled in DRC’s capital will kick off at 3.00 pm local time and will pit two clubs against each other, separated by a three-point gap. Indeed, ahead of kick-off and according to the play-off statistics, the Archangels (the nickname for Celeste FC’s players) from Mbandaka, who are bottom of the table, have been awarded just one point from four matches. In contrast, the Lumpas of Lubumbashi, sitting a little higher up the table, have accumulated four points from three matches played.
Celeste FC in search of a first win
So far, Celeste FC will go into this match seeking their very first win, especially as they are coming off the back of three consecutive defeats: against TP Mazembe (0-2) in Kinshasa, Maniema Union (0-1) in Lubumbashi and, finally, against Don Bosco (0-1) in Kinshasa.
A home win is the biggest challenge facing the Archangels of Mbandaka, who are based in Kinshasa. This would allow the team to taste the sweetness of victory, at least once.
Otherwise, they will continue to brood.
