Mbujimayi, February 11th, 2026(CPA). – The company ‘Onyo-BT’ has acquired equipment for the operation of a power plant with a production capacity of 610 megawatts in the province of Kasai Oriental (central Democratic Republic of Congo), CPA has learned on Wednesday from administrative sources.
« We started the project in December 2024 and by 2025 we had already produced 610 megawatts of power. This power is divided into three production units. After this production phase, we now had to move on to the second phase, which is dedicated to the protection and distribution of electricity. Hence the acquisition of the appropriate equipment today, » has declared Reagan Lubuaku, technical assistant at ONYO BT. According to him, of the 610 megawatts produced, a 10-megawatt unit is intended to directly supply households in the province, a second 100-megawatt unit has been fully developed, and a third 500-megawatt unit.
« This phase has been fraught with difficulties due to the technical and logistical challenges of transporting the equipment by cargo plane here to the province. Today, we have just received and transported all this equipment, which actually consists of three batches, to the site, » he has added. On this occasion, he has explained that this electricity is produced from nine strategic minerals that are mined outside DRC. ‘We have nine strategic minerals that the company mines, and this mining is not done here in Congo, it is done outside the country, where our companies are located. We have set up laboratories to transform these minerals into semi-electronic components, and it is these components that come back here in the country and to our workshops in Kinshasa and elsewhere,’ he has explained. ‘We are able to produce an energy core, and this energy core effectively produces unlimited power, which means that from this core, we can develop any amount of electrical power,’ he has concluded.
