Nord-Kivu: launching of the ‘Code 14’ coffee variety in Kyavinyonge, in the Beni territory

Kinshasa, August 4th, 2026 (CPA). – The ‘Code 14’ coffee variety has been launched on Tuesday in Kyavinyonge, in Nord-Kivu, in the east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, for the export of this agricultural product, which has been certified by the Minister in charge of Agriculture as complying with international standards, according to a press release consulted by CPA.

“The Minister of State in charge of Agriculture and Food Security, Muhindo Nzangi, has officially launched the ‘Code 14’ coffee variety in Kyavinyonge, in Nord-Kivu province. This initiative aims to put an end to fraud and illicit exports, whilst ensuring enhanced traceability and the export of coffee certified as compliant with international standards,” it is read. According to the source, this overarching vision forms part of the drive to bring development to Kyavinyonge, a vision centred on several key infrastructure projects, notably the construction of Port Kavango Premier, the upgrading of the road linking Kyavinyonge to Butembo, and the strengthening of the services provided by the General Direction of Customs and Excise (DGDA), with the aim of turning this lakeside town into a genuine commercial hub, on a par with Kasindi.

With the launching of Code 14, Kyavinyonge is taking a decisive step towards its ambition to become a strategic centre for the coffee trade and a driving force behind economic development in Nord-Kivu, by offering producers and economic operators a more secure, transparent and competitive framework for accessing international markets, with the aim of transforming this lakeside town into a genuine commercial hub, on a par with Kasindi.
