Opening of Mobile Artist Registration Offices at Le Zoo Theatre

Kinshasa, February 26th, 2026 (CPA). – Mobile offices for the registration and identification of artists and cultural professionals in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) were installed and officially opened on Wednesday at the Congolese Cultural Center “Le Zoo” (CZoo) in Kinshasa, according to a press release received Thursday by CPA.

“The operation aims to establish a national registry of artists and cultural creators in order to facilitate access to social services, professional recognition and more structured support,” the statement read. “As part of this initiative, CZoo is providing a permanent registration space. The operation takes place every Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There are plans to extend and set up other mobile offices in different parts of the capital and later in the provinces to continue this operation for the benefit of artists,” the source added. According to the document, the initiative was led by the Director General of the Social Assistance Fund for Congolese Artists and Writers (FASAEC), a public institution operating under the supervision of the Ministry in charge of Culture in the DRC. It marks an important step in the structuring of the Congolese cultural sector. Since last December, it was recalled, FASAEC has obtained from its supervisory ministry the mandate to digitalize and secure the digital database (“digital memory”) of artists in the cultural sector. Established in 1972, this body is intended to provide material and social assistance to registered artists. It is currently modernizing the monitoring of artists through the digitalization of their records. Its ultimate mission is to ensure and provide social, medical and material assistance to Congolese creators. In January 2026, the Fund officially launched its artists’ health coverage project through the National Health Insurance Card (CNAM).
