Kinshasa, May 28th, 2026 (CPA).- The Congolese Human Rights Commission has participated on Thursday in a high-level dialogue on sexual violence in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) at the French Senate headquarters in Paris, according to an X account consulted by CPA. “The French Senate has hosted a high-level dialogue today dedicated to sexual violence in DRC,” has written Mbamba Kona, vice-president of the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH-DRC). This member of the CNDH’s executive committee has specified that it was she who has represented her civil society institution at this dialogue, initiated by the organisation Afia Maman, adding that Mr Samuel Mbemba, the Congolese Minister in charge of Human Rights, has also taken part in this moment of exchange, as well as Professor Emile Ngoy, DRC’s ambassador to France.

This organisation had organised, in July 2025, on the side-lines of the International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict, celebrated on June 19th of each year, a dialogue session at the Palais du Peuple (People’s Palace) in Kinshasa, in partnership with the National Assembly and with the support of the French Embassy in DRC. This dialogue was part of a parliamentary consultation on gender, women’s and girls’ rights, with the aim of mobilising institutional and civil society actors around prevention, support for survivors and the fight against impunity.
