Russia-Ukraine war: a meeting between Putin and Zelensky scheduled for the coming days

Kinshasa, August 19th, 2025 (CPA).- A meeting between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky is scheduled in the coming days, following high-level talks in Washington aiming to resolve the conflict, have written on Tuesday the international media.  ‘Within two weeks, a meeting between the Russian and Ukrainian presidents will take place, according to information confirmed and recorded by mediators,’ the sources have indicated.  Never has a meeting between Volodymyr Zelensky and Vladimir Putin seemed so close, following the visit of European leaders to the White House last Monday.

It should be noted that Donald Trump had received several European leaders in the US capital, including Emmanuel Macron, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. ‘The location of a possible summit between the Russian and Ukrainian leaders has yet to be determined. After this meeting, we will organise a tripartite meeting, which will be attended by the two presidents and myself,’ Donald Trump has specified.  For his part, the Ukrainian leader has welcomed the positive result and has said he is ‘ready’ to meet his Russian counterpart.  ‘I hope this will happen as soon as possible, but for that to happen, all parties must agree. The agenda for the meeting will include the issue of territories, which will be discussed with Vladimir Putin,’ has said Volodymyr Zelensky.
