Kinshasa, July 27th, 2026 (CPA).– Strengthening cooperation between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the State of Israel was discussed during a meeting on Monday between the Congolese Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and her Israeli counterpart in Jerusalem, according to a press release received by the CPA.
“As part of her official visit to Israel, Ms. Thérèse Kayikwamba, Minister of State and Minister in charge of Foreign Affairs, met with Mr. Gideon Sa’ar, Minister in charge of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel. The two ministers have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the partnership between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the State of Israel through the development of bilateral cooperation, as well as through increased coordination within multilateral forums on issues of common interest,” read in the press release from the Congolese ministry’s communications office stated.
According to the document, the meeting also featured the signing of two cooperation agreements: a memorandum of understanding on political and diplomatic consultations, and another on cooperation between the two countries’ diplomatic academies. Discussions also focused on security developments in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Middle East. The Congolese foreign minister has outlined the situation in eastern DRC and called for support for peace efforts, while respecting the Congo’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. This visit reflects the shared commitment to take bilateral relations to the next level, in line with the vision of President Félix Tshisekedi, the source said.
On Sunday, July 26th , the Minister in charge of State for Foreign Affairs began an official visit to Jerusalem, Israel, as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the DRC and Israel. This diplomatic mission is part of the DRC’s efforts to diversify its international partnerships and to implement a diplomacy focused on concrete results, in line with the vision of President Félix Tshisekedi. Relations between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the State of Israel have intensified in recent years through high-level diplomatic exchanges and cooperation initiatives in several sectors.
