Support from the Ministry in charge of Social Affairs requested for the care of orphans in Nord-Kivu

Kinshasa, July 10th, 2025 (CPA). – The support of the Minister of Social Affairs was requested on Tuesday by Miss ‘Independence DRC’ as part of her project to care for orphans in North Kivu, in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), according to a statement from the ministry received by the CPA on Thursday.

« I am requesting support from the Minister of Social Affairs, Humanitarian Action and National Solidarity, Nathalie Aziza Munana, for my project to care for orphans in a centre in the Bujovu district of North Kivu. This support in the coming days will be a source of hope for these orphans in the name of national solidarity, » said Kezi Mutumayi, Miss Independence 2025, quoted in the statement. She said that her visit was also to present to Minister Munana her project related to the crown, a commitment that falls within the social and humanitarian field. For her part, Ms Véronique Kashala, founder of the ‘Miss Independence DRC’ competition, who accompanied Miss Mutumayi, said it was time for other government actors to follow in the footsteps of Minister Munana, who has made humanitarian assistance one of her priorities.

Ms Nathalie-Aziza Munana, for her part, praised Miss Independence DRC’s commitment to social and humanitarian causes.  ‘Despite the war situation affecting Greater Kivu, Miss’s contribution to orphans is a gesture aimed at showing the world and the enemies of peace that the DRC continues to live, and that victory over the forces hostile to peace is sure and certain,’ she said. Originally from Goma, in Nord-Kivu province, Kezi Mutumayi was named Miss Independence after a casting in Goma on January 19th, 2025 and represented her province in the final of the 4th edition of Miss Independence in Kinshasa in June. This is a beauty contest that showcases Congolese culture and female leadership. The first edition took place in 2021.
