Kinshasa, May 24th, 2026 (CPA). – The inclusion of entrepreneurship courses at all levels of the education system in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has been recommended by a university professor as a means of reducing unemployment, during an interview with CPA in Kinshasa, the Congolese capital. “The entrepreneurship courses must be inserted and taught at all levels in the Democratic Republic of Congo, starting from secondary school, regardless of the curriculum or field of study, in order to create jobs and reduce unemployment”, has declared Modeste Mafwala, University Professor and Doctor of Management Sciences. “The State must regulate the institutions that produce graduates, because there is a proliferation of higher education institutions and a large number of graduates, who, moreover, cannot be absorbed by the labour market due to their skills and the limited number of jobs,” he has added. Mr Mafwala has explained that those who are trained as researchers or practitioners are expected to work in society, whilst the university must provide training to meet the needs of society. According to him, the recent agreement between DRC and the United States of America will create many jobs that could reduce the unemployment rate, provided the country prepares itself by training the elite who will meet future needs.
