The song ‘Apocalypse’,  A symbol of generational reconciliation and Congolese musical heritage

Kinshasa, November 5th, 2025 (CPA). -A musical collaboration entitled ‘Apocalypse’ featured on the album ‘Code 16’, bringing together the voices of Ferré Gola and JB Mpiana, both from the Democratic Republic of Congo, has been described as a work of reconciliation and a musical legacy by an analyst during a discussion with the CPA on Wednesday.

« Through Apocalypse, Ferre Gola and JB Mpiana seek to transcend the generational and aesthetic divides that have long divided their audiences. The title is intended to be a work of reconciliation, artistic maturity and celebration of the Congolese musical heritage. It embodies a common desire to touch hearts beyond rivalries, offering a powerful and unifying composition, » said Chris Louzany, cultural analyst. « Set to a haunting melody, Apocalypse blends Ferre Gola’s smooth voice with JB Mpiana’s powerful vocals in an emotional musical dialogue. The lyrics evoke the turbulence of life, breakups, rebirths and the promise of a better future, » he added.  According to the analyst, the song stands out for its balance between emotion and modernity, revealing the perfect chemistry between Ferré Gola and JB Mpiana. ‘The track alternates between poetic introspection and lyrical flights of fancy, carried by a refined orchestration in which guitar, percussion and backing vocals intertwine with elegance. The chemistry between the two artists is palpable, offering a sound experience that is both nostalgic and resolutely modern,’ he emphasised.  He continued: « Apocalypse, this work from Ferre Gola’s album code 16, scheduled for release in 2026, and JB Mpiana offer much more than just a song; these two performers have created a work of memory, transcendence and unity. This long-awaited collaboration resonates as a powerful message to an entire generation: art can heal, bring people together and open up new horizons. A page is turning, another is being written, and it promises to be memorable. » Ferre Gola, whose real name is Hervé Gola Bataringe, is one of the most refined artists on the contemporary Congolese music scene. In 2005, he embarked on a solo career marked by a constant search for musical elegance and emotional depth. According to Chris Louzany, nicknamed Padre, Ferre Gola has established himself as the standard-bearer of a modern, subtle and introspective rumba. His albums, such as Sens interdit, Boîte noire and Dynastie, demonstrate a rare vocal mastery and poetic writing that appeals to purists and younger generations alike.  Jean-Bedel Mpiana, better known as JB Mpiana, is a living legend of Congolese music. Founder of the group Wenge BCBG after the split of the legendary Wenge Musica 4×4, he has embodied the elegance, rigor and power of modern rumba since the 1990s. His album Feux de l’amour, released in 1997, remains an absolute benchmark to this day, both for the quality of its compositions and for the cultural impact it has had throughout French-speaking Africa.
