The young people in a Kinshasa municipality sensitized about waste management

Kinshasa, August 10th, 2025 (CPA).- The young people in the municipality of Lemba, in the centre of Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo, have been sensitized on Saturday about waste management by the youth league of a political party with the aim of encouraging young people to improve environmental hygiene  in the municipality.  “This sensitization aims to change attitudes and actively involve young people in the municipality of Lemba in creating a clean environment by focusing on waste management and the maintenance of public spaces,”  has declared Mr Jeremie Bangabanga, national president of the youth league of the Allied Action for Social Development (AADS).

According to Mr Bangabanga, this sensitization highlights the links between sanitation, public health and the fight against diseases linked to unsanitary conditions.  ‘This initiative by the youth wing of the AADS political party is in line with the vision of moral authority Christophe Nyakeru, who advocates for change,’ he has added.

The president of the youth league has however indicated that the main objective of this sensitization is to educate young people and encourage them to adopt good practices in waste management.  He has also called on young people to take ownership of the operation and actively participate in sanitation efforts while encouraging them to obtain rubbish bags to facilitate waste collection.
