Community Day in Kinshasa: a protestant community urged to become more missionary

Kinshasa, August 10th, 2025 (CPA).- The followers of the Congo River Baptist Community (CBFC) have been urged on Sunday to become more missionary disciples during a community day celebrated in all Protestant parishes in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo. ‘We urge every follower to become a more missionary disciple, going beyond borders and boundaries, to contribute concretely to the work of evangelism advocated by the CBFC and thus participate in the expansion of the Kingdom of God,’ has declared Raymond Angendu, Central Director of the Department of Evangelism and Mission (DEM). He has emphasised the annual activities selected and planned by his department.

‘This celebration is one of the evangelical activities selected and planned annually by the community’s hierarchy. It is inspired by the biblical parable of the wedding feast (Matthew 22:1-14) for reminding us of the importance of proclaiming the Gospel and of the invitation extended to all,’ he has added.  Furthermore, Reverend Raymond Angendu has emphasised the need for perseverance in carrying out the mission, despite obstacles, and the importance of adopting the style of Jesus Christ, characterised by kindness, compassion and closeness to the people to be evangelised.

To respond to the missionary urgency, he has recommended the pooling of human and financial resources, constant prayer, and the accompaniment of all people, regardless of their social conditions, in order to bring them to the knowledge of the truth.  The central director of the DEM has finally urged each follower to become ‘a more missionary disciple, going beyond borders and limits, to contribute concretely to the work of evangelisation advocated by the CBFC and thus to participate in the extension of the Kingdom of God’.
