The acting governor of Tshopo province in the north-east of the Democratic Republic of Congo called for international recognition of the Congolese Genocost during a commemorative ceremony held on Saturday at the cemetery for victims of the six-day war in Kisangani, the provincial capital.   ‘I urge all the inhabitants of Tshopo  and all Congolese to recognise this day as a global day of remembrance, just like other genocides in history,’ has declared the acting governor of Tshopo province, Didier Lomoyo Iteku.  And he added: ‘Nothing can explain the barbarity of foreign armies in the martyred city of Kisangani except their thirst to control our natural resources. Our children have been buried alive for being Congolese.’
