Kinshasa, December 10th, 2025 (CPA). – The prevention of violence and abuses against children has been cited among the commitments made by the Ministry in charge of Social Affairs, through the Direction of Social Interventions (Dispe), has stated a social worker during an expression day organised by a shelter for street children.
‘The Ministry in charge of Social Affairs, Humanitarian Action and National Solidarity is committed to prevent all forms of violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation of children, and to strengthening the psychosocial, health and family care of children in difficult situations, in order to support the shelters that play an irreplaceable role in stabilising thousands of children throughout the city of Kinshasa,’ has declared Jeanne Puati, delegate of the Ministry in charge of Social Affairs to the Direction of Social Interventions (Dispe). She has indicated that no progress is possible if children, especially girls, continue to suffer physical, psychological and other forms of violence.
‘By declaring zero tolerance for exploitation and abandonment, with an urgent call to parents to strengthen the protection and listening to children, to communities to report abuse, to partners to continue investing in protection, and to decision-makers to prioritise social protection in public policies, this protection is a collective and on-going endeavour,’ she has said. Roger Katembwe, from the ‘Libota, kelasi et mosala’ (a family, school and job for every child) Centre of the Committee for the Support of Street Social Work (Likemo CATSR), which has organised this event, has welcomed the contribution of this new partnership with the Romanian Embassy, which has given special meaning to this International Children’s Rights Day.
