Kinshasa, March 3rd, 2026 (CPA).- An ecumenical celebration has been planned on March 8th at the Tata Raphael stadium in Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), in support of women and families in the east of the country, as part of International Women’s Day, according to a statement consulted on Tuesday. ‘The patroness (boss) of Gender invites all the nation’s driving forces, women’s associations and organisations, public and private institutions, businesses, churches and political parties, without exception, to take part en masse in this great celebration, starting at 7 a.m. at Tata Raphael Stadium, to honour Congolese women, entrepreneurs, fighters and creators,’ it is read in the statement from the Ministry in charge of Gender, Family and Children, signed by Laetitia Bena, director of the cabinet. According to the source, this commemoration is part of the international theme: ‘Rights, Justice, Action for all women and girls’, which has been adapted at the national level to: ‘Guaranteed rights: Sustainable empowerment of women and girls in DRC’. In addition, the press release has specified, on March 8th of this year, will be a date on which Congolese women will once again show their unwavering support for women and families in eastern DRC, long ravaged by war and the expropriation of the country’s land and wealth. This is in support of the presidential initiative to restore national and regional peace. ‘The presence of all is warmly welcomed to make this celebration a powerful moment of unity, solidarity and commitment to the rights and empowerment of women and girls in the Democratic Republic of Congo,’ the source has concluded.
