Kinshasa, April 12th, 2026 (CPA). – The senior women’s Leopards football team of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have laminated the Indonesia’s Garuda Pertiwi 7-1 on Sunday at Ratchaburi Stadium in Thailand, in the semi-finals of the international women’s friendly tournaments organised by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), according to the world football governing body.
According to the source, it was a match well within the Congolese team’s capabilities, during which they proved to be superior to the Indonesians, scoring seven goals thanks to a brace from Merveille Kanjinga and another brace from Flavine Mawete, as well as goals from Marlene Kasaj, Olga Massombo and Jeannette Feza. Following this qualification, the DRC will face the winner of the match between Thailand and New Caledonia on Wednesday, April 15th, in the final of this international competition known as the FIFA Series.
It should be remembered that the FIFA Series are international friendly mini-tournaments, launched by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) in 2024, organised in March of even-numbered years to allow men’s and women’s national teams from different confederations to compete against one another, with a view to maintaining their performance levels for future events.
