The functioning of the Culture, Arts and Heritage services mentioned during a general assembly at the MNR / DRC

Kinshasa, June 12th, 2021 (CPA).- The Minister in charge of Culture, Arts and Heritage, Cathérine Kathungu Furaha, exchanged on Wednesday with the heads of the services under her supervision, around the functioning of her portfolio, in the multipurpose room of the National Museum of the DRC, during a general assembly

According to the Minister, the motivation to convene this general assembly aims to put an end to the meander that characterizes the posture of certain agents or executives who live in his portfolio. “There are a lot of services that would behave like free electrons. I saw and I went to meetings where I found representatives of the Culture and Arts departments and services, but who behaved like individuals, they often carry all forms of projects for which we do not. have not necessarily infiltrated. I fear that it will be a bitter observation to know that people really evolve as independent people ignorant of how should behave in a house where the rule reigns ”, he lamented, stressing that his concern is to restore order , to destroy political interference by advocating respect for the texts and their perfect application.

She also regretted the confusion on the part of some of her direct collaborators who are the heads of the directorates, before criticizing the holding of activities which put in difficulty the roles inscribed in the National Museum as well as the Cultural Center the « Zoo », in particular the celebrations of weddings and worship and the transformation into a funeral home

“Museums must be places for learning about history, a place of contemplation where people from here and elsewhere must come and visit works of art. We can only brag about these jewels which do not exist in many places or countries in Africa. We must reflect on the cultural economy and this must start from works and actions such as that of a museum. Even in the case of “The Zoo”, we need to produce activities that can bring children back to visit and spend their moments and not to organize bars, ”she said.

At the same time, she called on her guests to work in synergy, to permanent communication between her firm and the departments or directorates. She also instructed her employees to produce and share quarterly reports, in order to keep her in tune with the activities taking place in each sector. ACP/
