Cooperation between the EU and Garamba Park on the menu of discussions between the Governor of Haut-Uélé and the EU Ambassador to the DRC

Isiro, June 13th, 2021 (CPA) .- The Ambassador of the European Union (EU) Mr. Jean-Marc Châtaignier accompanied by a strong delegation exchanged, Saturday, in Bunia in the province of Haut Uélé with the governor of the said province , on the cooperation program between his institution and the Garamba Park but also on the expectations of the province in relation to the EU.

After a tête-à-tête with Jean-Marc Châtaignier, the Provincial Governor assisted by the Vice-Governor and a few sectoral ministers, notably that of the Interior Chrispin Alibu, ITPR Norbert Mandana but also Agriculture, Fishing and Livestock Raphaël Marie Masoki chaired a working session with the delegation of the European Union in the Kinali room.

An opportunity for both parties to address issues of community interest including the financing of projects with visible impact for the local population affected by the Garamba Park, which occupies 20% of the province.

The two parties have also placed an emphasis on logging and mining in the park in violation of the texts that govern this sector.

The question of the electrification of the province thanks to the fall of Nadumbe was also addressed. Several recommendations were made on basic infrastructure, agriculture, tourism, electricity and fishing.

At the end of his stay, Mr. Jean-Marc Châtaigner promised to return to isiro as soon as possible for projects with visible impact.

Before taking his plane to Kinshasa via Nagero, the number 1 of the EU visited the governorate, the residence of the governors and other sites before praising the efforts of Christophe Baseane Nangaa for the opening up and the modernization of the province. ACP/
