Goma, June 5th, 2021 (CPA).- The military governor of the province of North Kivu, Lieutenant-General Constant Ndima Kongba, proceeded, Thursday, to the delivery of a large batch of essential drugs, assistance from the Government center intended for five health care structures in Goma, in the province of North Kivu, for the correct care of victims of the recent volcanic eruption of Nyiragongo.

By symbolically handing over the assistance to the head of the provincial division of health, the head of the provincial executive recalled the concern of the Sama Lukonde Government which insists that health care cannot be affected in any way. The provincial governor, on this occasion, founded his hope that this assistance, proposed by the Minister of Health, would meet the real needs for which it was granted, namely the care of patients distributed through the five structures concerned. . According to Dr. Janvier Kubuya, head of the provincial health division in North Kivu, « this handover comes at the right time », the Province as well as the city of Goma being in the process of responding to the challenges aimed at guaranteeing better health for the victim population. consequences of the volcanic eruption of Nyiragongo. He took the opportunity to solicit the involvement of the Governor so that all aspects relating to the holistic management of health care are also provided by the central government. “There are first-line drugs that we just received. All these packages will help our populations « , declared, for his part, Dr. Sébastien Matata Ngilima, medical director of the provincial referral hospital of North Kivu, for whom » this support from the central government is more than a necessity for many patients scattered throughout the beneficiary structures ”.In addition to the Provincial Hospital of North Kivu, other structures benefiting from this assistance are Heal Africa, CBCA-Virunga, CBCA-Bethesda and Charité Maternal Hospital.

This assistance from the central government comes after that in food and non-food provided by the delegation of seven ministers recently dispatched to Goma, the day after the eruption of Nyiragongo. ACP/
