President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo at the Extraordinary Summit of ECCAS in Brazzaville

Kinshasa, June 5th, 2021 (CPA).- President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo participated, Friday in Brazzaville / Kintele, alongside his Congolese, Angolan and Central African counterparts, in the Extraordinary Summit of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), convened by its current President, Denis Sassou Ngwesso, in order to examine the situation which prevails in Chad, after the death of President Idriss Déby. The Heads of State and Government of this sub-regional institution proposed, in particular, in the resolutions taken at the end of their meeting, the material and financial support to be given to Chad, the appointment of a broad-based government. led by a civilian prime minister, as well as the holding of an inclusive national dialogue. In the final communiqué, the Heads of State and Government of ECCAS « took note of the suspension of the Chadian Constitution of 2018 and the establishment of a Transitional Military Council », before encouraging « all political actors to embark on the path of reconciliation and dialogue ”. The Brazzaville Summit convened by the current President of ECCAS, Denis Sassou N’guesso, and mainly devoted to the security situation in Chad, was attended by Presidents Denis Sassou-N’guesso, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, Faustin- Archange Touadera and Joâo Lourenço, while the other member countries were represented by senior government officials.ACP/
