Goma, June 6th, 2021 (CPA).- Prime Minister Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde is staying on an official mission in the city of Goma, capital of the province of North Kivu or Kivu where he is the bearer of a message from support and compassion from the Head of State to the population. « I come to bring a message of support from the Head of State and his Government to the population of Goma victim of the volcanic eruption and that of North Kivu in general victim of insecurity », declared the Head of ‘Central executive as he gets off the plane.
At the bottom of the bridge, the Prime Minister was greeted by the Military Governor of the province of North Kivu, Lieutenant-General Constant Ndima Kongba surrounded by Minister Julien Paluku of Industry as well as small members of the provincial security committee .
In the suite of the Head of Government we note the presence of twelve ministers as well as elected national deputies from North Kivu.
This second visit comes fourteen days after the recent eruption of the Nyiragongo volcano which caused enormous human and material damage.
The death toll shows 32 people who died directly and indirectly as a result of this disaster.
Seventeen villages in Nyiragongo territory saw their homes razed from the map by the lava flow that stopped less than a kilometer from the town of Goma in its northern part. The agenda of the Head of Government is still awaited.
In the aftermath of the Nyiragongo volcano eruption, it is recalled, the President of the Republic Félix Antoine Tshisekedi dispatched a government team to Goma to support the local authorities in dealing with the effects of this disaster and to provide the first assistance. to the population affected by the effects of the eruption.
