Kinshasa, June 09th, 2021 (CPA).- Senator Eddy Mundela Kanku, (Kasaï space) was selected as the only candidate for the post of first deputy president of the Senate, according to the provisional list of candidates made public on Tuesday by the committee of organization of the election of the first deputy president of the Senate.
At the time of submitting the candidatures, Senator Éric Makangu, (from the former Eastern Province) presenting himself as independent, had also applied for this post which remained vacant since the resignation at the beginning of March 2021 session of Samy Badibanga Ntita, former first deputy president of the upper house of parliament.

Accompanied by the General Secretary of UDPS, Augustin Kabuya, the file of the only elected senator of the presidential party was received by Modeste Bahati Lukwebo, president of the upper house of the Parliament.
The electoral campaign as well as the hearing of the messages of the candidates is set for June 10th, 2021, while the election and installation of the first deputy president of the Senate will take place on June 12th, 2021. ACP/Fng/ODM/KJI
