Kinshasa, June 6th, 2021 (CPA).- The family, friends and acquaintances of the late journalist Emmanuel Panzu Diombo, met, on Saturday, at the thanksgiving mass in the parish of Sainte Thérèse in the commune of N’djili, to commemorate one year since the disappearance of this knight of the pen of the Congolese Press Agency (CPA).
The priest of the day Father Patience Massamba focused his homily in the book of Ecclesiastes 3, which states that there is a time for everything under this sun, a time to be born and a time to die. To this end, he called on those present at Mass to prepare themselves, to avoid anything that could constitute an obstacle to entering the kingdom of God.
For one of the children of the deceased, Don Panzu, Papa Emmanuel Panzu was a father who had a high sense of the pater familia, always listening and seeking solutions to the problems and concerns of the family.
“You were very dear to us, you were the one with whom we shared all the secrets of life without taboos. You liked to divide your time between work and your family. No matter the circumstances, you were always there to uplift and cheer us on. You have always preached us to work hard in life to be useful, and to fight poverty and ignorance to the last energy, « he said.
Born in 1954 in Mbanza Landa in the Kongo Central province, Emmanuel Panzu received his primary education at EP. Saint Charles Lwanga in the municipality of Barumbu in Kinshasa and secondary studies in Saint Raphaël in the municipality of Limete.
A graduate in criminology from the Judicial Police Training School, he holds a law degree from the Free University of Kinshasa (ULK). He was hired in August 1973 at the Zaire Press Agency (ZAP), currently CPA, as a reporter accredited to the Courts and Tribunals. Head of the judicial section, he covered the major trials of the 2nd Republic inside and outside the country. A member of several ministerial cabinets, he was also secretary general of the Association of Journalists of the Judicial Press of Zaire and a member of the Bureau of the Interministerial Committee for the Fight against Drugs. He was also the holder of civic merit medals in bronze and silver.
He also marked his presence alongside great politicians of this country in particular, the late Bâtonnier Kisimba Ngoy, the late Me Kamanda wa Kamanda, the late Nsinga Udju, etc.
When he died on June 5, 2020, in full confinement due to the outbreak of the coronavirus in the DRC, he was deputy editor-in-chief at the nation desk. ACP/
