Willy Bakonga validates the production of teaching manuals in Tetela language

Kinshasa, March 17 th, 2021 (CPA).– The Minister of State, outgoing Minister in charge of Primary, Secondary and Technical Education (EPST), Willy Bakonga Wilima, validated, on Tuesday, the production of language teaching manuals tetela, at the end of an exchange with the educational partners, the notables of Sankuru province and the technical services of EPST in his office, in Gombe municipality, in Kinshasa.

This decision of the Minister of State in charge of EPST was taken in order to respond to the concern of the notables of Sankuru relating to the disappearance of their language in favor of other national languages.

The notables of Sankuru who noted, on this occasion, the particular character of the Tetela language spoken by 90% of the population maintained that Tetela has been dispensed, in accordance with the law, for several years, at the elementary school level, in this part of the country.

To put an end to the concerns resulting from the launch of teaching manuals in 4 national languages, new linguistic studies will be carried out in the field in order to begin codification work in order to be able to produce up-to-date teaching materials in tetela car, the reform aimed at to improve teaching had only taken into account 4 national languages ​​(Lingala, Swahili, Kikongo and Tshiluba).
