USD 127,000,000 for the modernization of the port of Kalemie

Lubumbashi, June 12th, 2021 (CPA).- The director general of the Société Nationale des Chemins de fer du Congo (SNCC), Fabien Mutomb Kan Kato is planning, in the next few days, the modernization of the port of Kalemie in the province of Tanganyika for a cost estimated at USD 127,000,000 (US dollars one hundred and twenty-seven million), indicates the communication department of the SNCC.

The CEO of the SNCC, assisted by his staff, met on Wednesday at the SNCC’s Green show in Lubumbashi with a delegation from the Industry Promotion Fund (FPI), led by its deputy director general for procurement. in view of the realization of this project, indicates the source.

This project responds to the desire of the SNCC management committee to turn around this company which was once described as « the backbone of the national economy ».
