Uvira kidnapping cases on the rise

Uvira, July 24th, 2021 (CPA).- Kidnappings take on a worrying pace in the city of Uvira, one of the urban agglomerations of South Kivu province, said a local civil society source.

The most recent case is that of a 60-year-old named Barege Kagongo and his son, named Innocent, kidnapped from their plot by unidentified people in the town of Kamvivira in that town.

The thugs who made their forays into their plot of these victims demanded that they follow them to an unknown destination.

Alerted, the police on patrol seized of the information went in pursuit of these kidnappers, firing bullets in the air to deter them, but to no avail.

So far the two men are still in the hands of their kidnappers without yet asking for anything for their release. These acts of kidnapping, which were first reported in the city of Uvira, are also recorded in Baraka, Fizi-Center and Misisi in Fizi territory. ACP/Fng/nig
