African air transport: DRC reaffirms its commitment to continental integration

Kinshasa, June 23rd, 2026 (CPA). – The Democratic Republic of the Congo has reaffirmed on Monday in Lome, the capital of Togo, its commitment in favour of African aviation integration during the first Convention and Exhibition of this sector, according to a press release consulted on Tuesday by CPA.

“The Democratic Republic of the Congo has reaffirmed its commitment to African air transport integration at the first African Air Transport Convention and Exhibition, which opened on Monday in Lome by the President of the Togolese Council, Faure Essozimna Gnassingbe,” it is read in the Ministry in charge of Transport’s press release. The document has explained that, by aligning its vision with this initiative, DRC is making the development of transport infrastructure a strategic priority to support the country’s growth and influence.

According to the source, this first convention has brought together leading figures, including the former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, executives from continental institutions, airlines companies, investors and experts. The proceedings have placed air connectivity at the heart of economic development and the bringing together of African peoples. The source has noted that the participants are actively engaged in discussions on the reforms needed to create a more efficient, competitive and integrated African airspace.

The press release has reported that this commitment was also demonstrated in Tanzania, where DRC, alongside six countries from East and Southern Africa, has signed strategic agreements aiming to strengthen the regional cooperation, to facilitate trade exchanges and to improve transport infrastructure.  DRC confirms its willingness to play a leading role in the implementation of African mobility policies and regards the transport sector as a cornerstone of the continental integration and the well-being of its people.
