Brussels: An exhibition celebrates the memory and cultural identity of DRC

Kinshasa, September 9th 2026 (CPA). – The exhibition entitled ‘The Emotion of a Heritage’, which opened in Brussels, Belgium, has provided a showcase for the rich heritage of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), highlighting works that bear witness to its history and cultural identity, according to a press release received by the CPA on Wednesday.

“Through this exhibition, DRC is presented as a land that the history and cultural identity remain vibrant and are a source of pride for present and future generations. The works on display bear witness to a level of craftsmanship, creativity and collective memory that deserve to be better known and celebrated,” ha read in the statement.

Each room at the Space Vander bought thus becomes a space for discovery, enabling visitors to gain a better understanding of the DRC’s cultural roots and the various expressions that have shaped its identity over the generations. This initiative is of particular importance in the context of promoting Congolese heritage abroad. It brings the international public closer to the cultural riches of DRC and serves as a reminder that heritage is also a powerful tool for dialogue between peoples. For Congolese people in the diaspora, this exhibition also represents an opportunity to reconnect with a part of their history and to pass on to younger generations an understanding of a cultural heritage that is often far removed from everyday life. ‘Emotion d’un patrimony’ ultimately demonstrates that preserving Congolese heritage is not merely about conserving traces of the past. It is also about bringing these works to life, passing them on and giving them a place in shaping the cultural future of DRC. The exhibition, open to the public from September 4th to November 1st 2026 at the Space Vanderborght in Brussels, invites visitors to discover these works and to share an experience centred on memory, identity and Congolese cultural pride.
