Kinshasa, May 13th, 2026 (CPA).– The Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the three host countries of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations—Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda—have agreed to establish a supervisory committee for the competition, following a meeting held Tuesday in Nairobi, Kenya, according to CAF’s official website.
“CAF President Patrice Motsepe, accompanied by government ministers and football federation presidents from Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, agreed on the creation of the Pamoja Supervisory Committee for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations following a working meeting held in Nairobi, Kenya,” the source stated. According to the report, the decision followed a high-level meeting organized in the Kenyan capital as part of efforts to accelerate preparations for the first-ever AFCON to be jointly hosted by three countries. The meeting was attended by Salim Mvurya, Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports; Paul Makonda, Tanzania’s Minister of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports; Peter Ogwang, Uganda’s Minister of State for Sports; Mohammed Hussein, President of the Kenya Football Federation; Wallace Karia, President of the Tanzania Football Federation; Moses Magogo, President of the Uganda Football Federation; and Samson Adamu, CAF Acting Secretary General.
The various officials signed a joint resolution formalizing, with immediate effect, the creation of the Pamoja Supervisory Committee. “This body will be tasked with ensuring strategic guidance, coordination and monitoring of preparations for AFCON Pamoja 2027 across the three host countries,” the statement said. A key outcome of the meeting was the adoption of a roadmap with major objectives to be achieved by the end of August 2026. These include accelerating the construction and modernization of stadiums and infrastructure, confirming host cities and key operational plans, strengthening cross-border coordination on visas, immigration, customs and mobility, reinforcing security and medical preparedness measures, and delivering essential infrastructure and tournament services.
