Kinshasa, October 5th, 2025 (CPA).- Investigations have been announced on Saturday to identify those responsible for the recent desecration of the Palais de justice (Courthouse) in Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), occurred recently, according to a press release from the Ministry in charge of Justice consulted by CPA. ‘A thorough investigation will be carried out to identify the alleged perpetrators of the acts that desecrated the Palais de Justice and to bring them before the competent judicial authorities’, it is read from the press release signed by Marc Ekila, acting Minister in charge of Justice. He has reaffirmed his determination to uphold the rule of law, protect the institutions of the State and maintain public order, stressing that enhanced security measures had been introduced to protect staff, secure facilities and guarantee the continuity of the public justice service. The press release has followed recent acts of sabotage, notably the burning of tyres and the deliberate cutting off of electricity in the building housing the Ministry and the Palais de Justice.
The General Inspector of the Judicial Police of the Public Prosecutor’s Office has been rehabilitated
The Ministry has also announced in a press release that the General Inspector of the Judicial Police of the Public Prosecutor’s Office had been rehabilitated following his suspension in 2023, at a ceremony presided over by the Acting Minister in charge of Justice on Friday in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). ‘The attached documents show that, by ministerial decree, the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister in charge of the Civil Service, Modernisation of the Administration and Innovation of Public Services, has rehabilitated and reinstated Mr Antoine Camille Boyau as General Inspector of the Judicial Police of the Public Prosecutor’s Office’, it is read in the document signed by Marc Ekila, Acting Minister in charge of Justice and Keeper of the Seals. He has announced that Camille Boyau had been reinstated as General Inspector of the Judicial Police of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, in accordance with the ministerial order of February 13th, 2025, signed by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister in charge of the Civil Service, and the order of the Council of State of July 9th, 2025. ‘Furthermore, the Council of State’s order of July 9th, 2025 is in line with the aforementioned order’, he has emphasised. According to the same source, the acting Minister in charge of Justice has instructed the General Secretary of this sector to take the appropriate measures to implement the aforementioned order. As a reminder, Antoine Camille Boyau had been arrested on August 4th 2023 before being suspended from his duties as General Inspector of the Judicial Police of the Public Prosecutor’s Office. CPA/
