Dialogue on the Uganda-UK business partnerships: Kampala highlights four sectors for British investors

Kinshasa, September 10th, 2026 (ACP).- On Thursday, the Ugandan Government has called on British investors to seize the opportunities offered by four priority sectors: agro-industrialization, tourism, mining and oil, as well as science, technology and innovation, the international media have reported. “We call on British investors to seize the opportunities offered by these four priority sectors (…) Kampala intends to combine capital, technology and access to British markets with resources, businesses and the potential of Ugandan youth in order to create competitive and sustainable enterprises,” has declared Godfrey Byamukama, Deputy Commissioner of the Ugandan Police Force. “The Uganda’s Tenfold Growth Strategy aims to grow the national economy to $500 billion by 2040, relying in particular on the diversification of production and the development of exports,” he has added. The Ugandan authorities’ call for investment in at least four sectors has been made at the first edition of the Uganda–UK Business and Community Partnerships for Humanity Dialogue, held in Bradford, in UK. “Uganda is ready to facilitate, partner with and protect investors and their assets,” he has assured, highlighting the efforts being made to improve the business environment. The official has also highlighted measures designed to reduce investment risks, including maintaining macroeconomic stability, lowering logistics and energy costs, and improving the bankability of projects. He has further emphasized the country’s commitment to gradually transition from an economy dependent on raw material exports to a model more focused on local processing and value creation. Organized by the Ugandan High Commission in the United Kingdom, in collaboration with the Uganda-Europe UK Association and the Ugandan Red Cross, the dialogue aims to strengthen economic and community partnerships between the two countries.
