DRC–AC Milan: discussions on the agreement to promote the tourism sector

Kinshasa, December 10th, 2025 (CPA) – The partnership agreement signed between AC Milan (Italian football club) and the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to promote tourism was the subject of discussions between the Minister in charge of Tourism and the Head of Strategy and Commercial Development at the said club, according to a document received on Wednesday by CPA.

‘This agreement between AC Milan, a football club playing in Italy’s Serie A, and DRC government aims in particular to promote the tourism sector, strengthen the positive image of DRC and revive bilateral cooperation between DRC and Italy by focusing on several strategic aspects,’ it is read in the statement from the Ministry in charge of Tourism. According to this document, this partnership is mutually beneficial between this prestigious Italian football team and DRC, and is part of the promotion of DRC as a destination.

As a reminder, the agreement had been signed in June 2024 between the AC Milan training centre and DRC, a key project in a strategic partnership also aimed at attracting investment and developing local talent, notably through the creation of the AC Milan Academy and the rehabilitation of infrastructure.

Furthermore, Mr Alessandro Gianni, head of strategy and commercial development at the AC Milan training centre, quoted in the document, has explained that this partnership positions DRC as the club’s official tourism partner and seeks to promote its immense potential through visibility campaigns and investments in sport and social initiatives.
