Kinshasa, October 7th, 2026 (CPA).- A call for increased protection and assistance to children in difficult circumstances in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) was made on Wednesday in Kinshasa by the Minister of Social Affairs during the launch of a workshop on contextualizing governance tools for child protection.
“Children are the future of our country. We therefore all have a duty to protect children in general and provide particular assistance to children in difficult circumstances living throughout our national territory,” said Ève Bazaïba, Minister of State in charge of Social Affairs.
“For three days, senior officials and staff of the public administration, members of ministerial offices and sector experts will work on adapting data management mechanisms and tools to strengthen care for vulnerable children in the DRC,” she added.
For Minister Bazaïba, the strong participation of institutional actors and civil society demonstrates a shared determination to work in the best interests of the child. She called for the active and sustained involvement of participants to ensure that the objectives assigned to the workshop are fully achieved.
Mrs. Bazaïba also paid tribute to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), a strategic partner of the Congolese Government, for its continued technical and financial support in caring for and assisting vulnerable children.
The establishment of these governance documents will help structure and harmonize the monitoring of protection cases nationwide, thereby ensuring a faster and more effective response for children in distress. ACP/
