Kinshasa, December 22nd, 2025 (CPA). -The price of a kilogram of cocoa, an export product of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), rose by 6.75% internationally, settling at USD 5.85 on 22 December 2025 compared to USD 5.48 the previous week, according to the foreign trade ministry’s price lists consulted by the CPA on Monday. ‘Cocoa prices rose on international markets during the week of 22 to 27 December 2025, with a kilogram trading at USD 5.85 compared to USD 5.48 the previous week, an increase of 6.75% per kilogram,’ the report said.
Compared to the weeks from December 8th to 13th, 2025 and 15 to 20 December 2025, this product saw an increase of 6.12% and 5.38% respectively on international markets, with the kilogram trading at US$5.20 compared to US$4.90 the previous week and US$5.48 compared to US$5.20 the previous week. The document specified that the rise, fall and stability of prices for marketable mining products, agricultural products and forest products are a result of supply and demand on international markets and the supply chain.
These fluctuations have a direct impact on the Congolese economy, which is heavily dependent on raw material exports. In the DRC, the main cocoa-producing areas are located in the provinces of North Kivu and Equateur. According to data from the Central Bank of Congo (BCC), exports from the cocoa sector generated more than US$50 million in 2023. ACP/
